STUDENTS ASKED TO FRONT COURAGE AND CONFIDENCE AS PARENTAL AND KYEIZOOBA GIRLS SHINE IN TDN 2026

Sunday 16th March, 2026 marked yet another land mark as Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi emerged winners of Teacher Debate Network 2026 Junior category held at Kyeizooba Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Bushenyi District.

The competition that attracted more than seven (7) secondary schools and 3 selected Primary Schools also saw Kyeizooba Girls’ Senior Secondary School as winners of Senior Debate category after stunning St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School from Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality in a tight final that was only decided by a 0.5 margin.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Catherine handing over the trophy to Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi as the tournament C.E.O looks on.

This year’s championship was ran under the theme; “Empowering young people on mental health”.

The participants applauded the organizers for choosing such a theme stressing that it’s timely considering what the current generation is going through.

The tournament had participants in story telling, public speaking, poetry, debate and news anchoring for both Junior and Senior categories.

The Chief organizer and C.E.O of the championship Mr. Eric Gumoshabe encouraged participants especially those who didn’t win not to lose saying that there is no loss in debate because when you win, you walk away with a prize and when you lose, you learn.

He appreciated the participants for accepting to showcase what they have and the Headteachers for accepting their schools to take part in the tournament.

Citing a Congolese proverb, “However much a the forest can pretend, the monkey knows all that takes place there”. This was meant to give a clear portrait of how mental health is real even when it continues to be ignored.

Mr. Eric doubles as the Deputy Head teacher for Nyakayojo Secondary School.

The Chief Guest appreciated the beauty of research as showcased by participants through their arguments.

Dr. Catherine appealed to the young generation to always struggle for such platforms as they reveal what fills their mind and vocabulary.
