FROM THE HILLS OF WESTERN UGANDA,TO THE HEART OF CENTRAL UGANDA; PARENTAL CARE NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL BUSHENYI STUNS NAMUGONGO P/S TO WIN 2025 NATIONAL QUIZ CHAMPIONSHIP.

Parental Care Nursery and Primary in Bushenyi District has won this year’s National Quiz Championship. The school defeated Namugongo boarding Primary school-Kitende in the final of the fourth edition of the championship. 

The event was held at Mali Studios in Bweyogerere in Kiira Municipality in Wakiso District. Pupils were asked questions about academics as well as national issues. 

“The championship is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for nurturing patriotism and leadership among young people, said Kakuru Makyetero, the trainer at Parental Care Nursery and Primary School.  

“I want to thank the pupils who have prepared well for the day, and the school for always supporting us. Winning is not simple; we must double our efforts because many will be targeting us shortly”. He said. 

The school won the championship after defeating the defending champions of St Francis Buddo in the quarter finals. 

Trevor Yebazamukama, the school director, said, “The win by Parental Care and Nursery Primary School Bushenyi was sparked off by skills of serious debate on the future of learning. “We teach a child holistically apart from academic excellence. We also do outside activities because so many people are benefiting from such activities. He said.

Schools that participated in the championship are Bishop Suprian Kihangiire, Mbarara Junior, Samaritan Primary School and Brigton Junior Bweyogerere, among others. 

Moses Kibuuka, one of the judges of the competition, said that such competitions help pupils to think and open up their minds.

Founded in1988 as a nursery school, Parental Care Nursery and Primary School is found in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality. The school graduated over the years and broken its records in several competitions. 

It should also be remembered that in 2023, the school represented Uganda in the All-African Spelling Bee competition in Blantyre, Malawi.
