PARENTAL CARE STEP UP TO CONSERVE THE ENVIRONMENT.
Led by SWAS (School Water and Sanitation) club an initiative of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Parental Care Nursery and Primary School-Bushenyi, has taken a leading role in environmental conservation through the Let the Pearl Shine Campaign. On Friday, February 28, 2025, learners actively took part in cleaning Bushenyi town and encouraged appropriate waste disposal. The activity was done in partnerships with Miss Tourism Ankole, Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality and Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Bushenyi Branch.
Addressing the pupils, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality Health Inspector Julius Byamukama emphasized the importance of conserving the environment in combating global warming. He urged schools to integrate environmental awareness into their curriculum to secure a sustainable future.
The school headteacher, Mr. Desmond Tayebwa highlighted the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens. “We are teaching our pupils the value of a clean environment, ensuring they grow up with habits that promote sustainability,” he said.
Miss Tourism Ankole 2024 Queens Shanne Birungi and Banny Shadia joined the pupils in raising awareness about environmental conservation.
The event that attracted other institutions from Bushenyi like Bushenyi Vocational Dan Memorial Institute (BVI), Ruyonza School, Kyambogo University and Kampala International University-Western Campus (KIU-WC) created an opportunity to learners, teachers and other participants to know something about Mental Health. This was conducted by Miss Tourism Ankole PRO Ms. Nayebare Shallon Bakirira who also doubles as the HR Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality and a Volunteer with URCS.
School administration and Directors were hailed for being enthusiastic about environmental protection.
