JUBILATIONS: THE CHAMPIONS’ HOME COMING, A JUBILATION MOMENT FOR BUSHENYI RESIDENTS.

Pupils, Parents, well wishers, teaching and non-teaching in jubilation moods upon the arrival of National MDD champions

Bushenyi community couldnot hide it’s excitement and happiness when Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi returned home as National MDD champions. It being the first ever National MDD win for a Western school in the competitions history contributed to the excitement and esteem upon which the jubilations were built.

According to the school Director Mr. Trevor Yebazamukama, the win came in 2026 but the preparations have been there since 2017 noting that good things take time.

“We have been in this competition for quite a period of time. For all this time, our target has always been one; to be national champions. The challenges encountered over the years is what we have taken as lessons that have led to this victory. We never stopped learning, we kept on participating and now we are jubilating”. Mr. Trevor said.

The happiness that could never go unnoticed

The Headteacher Mr. Desmond Tayebwa appreciated every effort that was behind the team for a week long activity.

“This is our victory because it has come as a result of combined efforts”. Mr. Desmond said.

Mr. Desmond further gave a highlight on the road to being champions.

“There were 115 schools with a total of over 10,000 participants. We competed in 13 items, managed to score above 90% in every item and won 5 of the 13 items, tied with Nakivubo Blue Primary School in two items making it a historical win of 7/13 items. This gave us a score of 273 points out of 300”. He highlighted.

He asked the jubilants to read Hebrews 10:5 as he concluded his speech.

Ms. Elivaida Nshemereirwe, the school Directress noted with extreme happiness that the win came not because of hardwork, not because of experienced trainers but because of God’s will.

“You have been in Iganga and I have been here praying for you, I thank God because he has answered my prayers”. She noted.

Earlier alone, as the school was departing for competitions, Aunt Elly (as she is commonly referred to) had promised 20,000/= and a necktie to every participant in an item that the school will win. This, she fulfilled as soon as the team returned.

In a special way, Aunt Elly appreciated the work done by matrons noting that the cleanliness, good faces and the smart appearance of children is a representation of work done by matrons.

The parents were represented by Mr. Apollo Lee Kakonge who expressed happiness upon this achievement.

He questioned why some parents have not yet brought their children to Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi noting that the teaching methods at Parental is what every child needs. Mr. Lee, however, expressed his dissatisfaction with government not supporting a school like Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi even when the it has continued to carry it’s flag high.

“It’s unfortunate that government has continued to sponsor schools to such competitions even when they cannot deliver the required results. This school has on several occasions made us proud, why can’t it be supported?” He asked.

He pledged to lead a campaign aimed at creating awareness about the need to support schools that have continued to make us proud irrespective of their statuses (private or government owned).

The function was graced by Ven. Rev. John Namanya Makuru the Archdeacon of All Saints Church, Greater Bushenyi.

In his remarks, he appreciated the school Directors for knowing and making learners understand that God is the foundation of everything noting that this win is as a result of what God can do to those that trust in him.

It should be noted that this win is the second one in a space of two days following the East African community Debate Championship that took place at King David Academy in Kigali Rwanda where Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi emerged winners.
