BATTLE OF BRAINS SHOWCASED AS PARENTAL CARE NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL BUSHENYI BEAT THE OLIVE SCHOOL NAMUGONGO, HILL SIDE NAALYA TO EMERGE CHAMPIONS OF OLYMPIA JUNIOR FESTIVAL 2026

Olympia Debate Society Ltd is a leading Ugandan organization dedicated to intellectual capacity building through debate, public speaking, and critical thinking. Established in 2019, the society has grown into one of East Africa’s most active promoters of debate as a tool for youth empowerment and educational excellence.
The society believe that structured debate equips young people with essential 21st century skills clear communication, logical reasoning, research ability, teamwork, and confidence that go far beyond the classroom. Through it’s initiatives, the society has reached thousands of students and teachers across Uganda and the region, fostering a culture of informed discourse and respectful dialogue. Every year, the society organizes a festival where selected participants are invited and a different theme is chosen for every festival.
As for 2026, the festival that was hosted by The Olive School Namugongo ran under the theme”, “Beyond the Classroom: Cultivating an AI-Ready Ecosystem for Uganda’s Youngest Learners”.

The festival attracted four schools that is, Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi, The Olive School Namugongo, Hill Side Naalya, etc.

As the day got wrapped, Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi emerged champions of debate, poetry and public speaking while quizz and story telling where claimed by The Olive School Namugongo as Hillside Naalya were declared essay writing champions.

Individuals who exhibited outstanding performances were recognized and awarded with individual trophies. Ashaba Isaiah of Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi was awarded for being the overall best speaker while Mwebesa Arshavin walked away with a trophy for being the best poet as Bernice Nabasa took the best public speaker award.

Batega Codate, Ainembabazi Angel Tracy and Lea Ninkusiima were named the best debaters.

The society also organized non competitive activities such swimming and chess.
Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi’s performance made it enough for it to be declared the winners of Olympia Junior Festival 2026.
